Husing in the United States

I’ve been working on a major project over at Husing.org.

I had free reign on the site, so chose to couple WordPress and TNG.

I used the incredible ThemeHybrid for the framework in WordPress and it’s a joy to work with.

Inspiration for the color scheme came a simple question to the owner, “What’s your favorite color?”.

Imagine my surprise at the nonchalant reply, “RealTree APG“.

After I got the WordPress layout and color scheme somewhat satisfied, I jumped over to TNG. As I got into development, several inconsistencies in page layout elements began to emerge.

I’ll be covering those modifications in a future series of posts once TNGv7.1 is released a few weeks from now.

    Hi Jodi –

I’m new to websites and need help with continuing the setup of my tng v.8 family history website.

Are you able to help with the newly-released tng v.8? (your portfolio talks in terms older versions)

I’ve obtained a domain name, and got Simply Hosting as my host server. They helped with the basic initial install. Then, using tng’s automated gedcom importing facility, I’ve transferred nearly 9,000 names from my home genealogy program (Legacy) in the tng site. For the most part that went smoothly.

I had selected “format 1″ but, after I imported all the names and data, I decided I preferred another format. That’s where I got stuck with the realization that I have no real clue how to change formats, modify files, layouts, and the like. (I know there are help menus and wikis, and I’ve looked at them, but they’re over my head.)

I’ve turned off public access to my site (I think) by going into what I believe is called “maintenance mode.” I didn’t want somebody stumbling on the site, and copying all the data.

Are you able to take on another project? What are your fees?

    Thanks. Bill
